What Is a Glossary?
A Glossary (also known as a term base) is a curated list of key words and their approved translations. It focuses on terminology rather than full sentences — things like brand names, product features, and specialized industry terms.
Glossaries are often created with input from the client or subject-matter experts. They make sure everyone involved in a project uses the same terminology correctly and consistently.
How They Work Together
A TM ensures consistency at the sentence level. A glossary safeguards accuracy at the word level. Together, they support clarity, speed, and professional quality.
For example, if you’re localizing a company website, your glossary tells you exactly how to translate a product name, while your TM reminds you how similar sentences were worded in past materials.
